MyStoic — Privacy Policy

MyStoic for iPhone · Norvela LLC · Last updated 1 October 2026

https://norvela.app/mystoic/privacy

MyStoic has no account and no Norvela server. The readings are built into the app, and your journal is kept on your iPhone. The app itself sends nothing anywhere: not your writing, not your voice, not how you use it.

The rest of this page is the detail behind that: what the app stores, what runs on the device, how purchases work, and how to remove everything.

What the app stores, and where

Everything below lives in MyStoic's own storage on your iPhone. There is no copy anywhere else unless you make one.

  • Your journal: for each day, your intentions, what is in your control, what you are grateful for, what disturbed you, how you felt coming into each moment, what went well and what to improve, your reflections on the day's readings, whether what disturbed you was yours to control, your answer to the week's question and the Stoic Week days you marked done.
  • Your saved passages: which passages you starred, as references to the built-in texts. Nothing else.
  • Your settings: appearance, reminder times, which texts your readings come from, reading text size, and whether the journal is locked.
  • The widget's copy of the next few days' readings: the passages' opening lines and citations, kept in a folder only MyStoic and its widget can open. Nothing you write goes into it.
  • Your purchase status, as Apple reports it, so the app knows whether MyStoic Pro is active when you are offline.

Journal files are saved with iOS's strongest file protection, so they can be read only while your iPhone is unlocked. If your iPhone is backed up to iCloud or a computer, iOS includes app data in that backup; that is between you and Apple, and Norvela cannot read it.

If you ask Siri for today's reading, Siri reads the widget's copy described above; your journal is never part of the answer. How Apple handles the voice request itself is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

Dictation

Tapping the microphone turns on dictation. Your voice is turned into text on your iPhone, using Apple's on-device speech recognition. If your language has no on-device model, MyStoic will not send your voice to a server to work around that; it asks you to type instead.

iOS asks for the microphone and speech recognition the first time you tap it. The microphone is on only while you are dictating, and the audio is not kept.

Stoic reflections (Apple Intelligence)

On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, the night review offers a short reflection on your day, drawn from that day's readings. It runs only when you tap it, and it uses Apple's on-device model: what you wrote is read on your iPhone and is not sent to Norvela or anyone else.

The reflection is labeled as machine-written and is not saved unless you choose to add it to your review. On iPhones without Apple Intelligence the feature does not appear.

Face ID journal lock

If you turn on the journal lock, past entries, "A year ago today", exporting and Delete My Data ask for Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode first. iOS handles that check; the app is told only whether it succeeded and never sees your face or fingerprint.

Reminders

Reminders for the morning, midday and night readings are scheduled on your iPhone as local notifications, and each carries that day's theme and author. They are off until you turn them on, and nothing about them leaves the device.

Purchases

MyStoic Pro, whether the yearly subscription or the lifetime purchase, is handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never see your payment details, billing address, name or Apple Account. Apple tells the iPhone whether Pro is active, and that is all the app knows.

The yearly plan renews each year until you cancel, which you can do at any time from Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription in the app, or in your Apple Account settings. Offer codes are redeemed through Apple as well. Apple's own privacy policy governs every transaction.

Tracking and advertising

There is none. The app does not track you across apps or websites, does not use the advertising identifier, shows no advertising, and does not sell or share anything with anybody.

Crash reports and diagnostics

The app has no analytics, so nothing is sent. iOS keeps short summaries of any crashes or hangs on your iPhone (Apple's MetricKit). They reach us only if you write to us from Settings → About → Contact Support: they are placed in the email, where you can read them, delete them or not send it at all. If you have Apple's Share iPhone Analytics turned on in iOS Settings, Apple may share crash reports with developers; that is a setting between you and Apple, and you can turn it off at any time.

Children

The app is not directed at children. It has no account, no profile, no messaging and no content from anyone else, and it collects nothing about anybody, whatever their age.

Exporting and removing everything

Settings → Privacy & your data → Prepare Export gives you your whole journal as JSON and CSV files to keep wherever you like.

Settings → Privacy & your data → Delete My Data removes every journal entry and your saved passages from your iPhone and turns reminders off. Your purchase is not touched, because it belongs to your Apple Account rather than to us. Or delete the app, and iOS removes its storage with everything on this page. Norvela never held any of it, so there is nothing further on our side to delete.

Your rights

Laws such as the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and erase personal data a company holds about you, and to know whether it is sold or shared.

Norvela LLC holds no personal data from MyStoic, so there is nothing to access, export or erase on our side, and nothing has been sold or shared. If you want that in writing, write to us and we will send it.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever starts doing something this page does not describe, this page changes first and the date at the top changes with it.
